ABOUT VANESSA
After obtaining a science degree at UCT, Vanessa trained as a food stylist at the New York Restaurant School and assisted top stylists for 3 years. Since returning to South Africa, she has worked with top photographers and directors, both locally and internationally, giving her an established reputation in the food industry as a creative, passionate foodie, with an energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
Her 15 years experience of shooting under the most diverse conditions enables her to anticipate and solve any problems that arise in unpredictable situations, thereby ensuring the smooth running of your shooting schedule. Food is often like children – it won’t behave under the spotlight!
She has worked in such diverse places as Egypt, Australia, Reunion, UK and Malaysia, and has just returned from an International Conference of Food Photography and Styling at Boston University. She believes it is time to give others the opportunity of a very exciting and lucrative career in Food styling and so is running a “Food to Art” styling school to teach all the basics, trade secrets and essentials of food styling.
